What Is This Option File?

An option file (OF) is a save data file for PES 2021 that updates your game's squad and team information without requiring you to reinstall the patch or the game itself. This January V1 2025 option file is designed specifically for players using Smoke Patch 21 Version 4.5 and reflects all major transfers that happened during the winter transfer window.

Every month, dedicated modders update these option files so that your PES 2021 experience stays as close to real football as possible. The January window is always one of the most exciting updates of the year because it brings in big moves that can completely change how clubs look in-game. Players who moved to new clubs in July are already in your game — this update handles everything from December and January.

This specific version — January V1 2025 — covers the first batch of confirmed winter transfers. A V2 update will follow later in January to catch any final deadline day moves.

Important: This option file is built for Smoke Patch 21 V4.5. If you are using a different base patch (such as an older version of SP21 or a different patch entirely), the option file may not work correctly. Check our guide on how to install Smoke Patch 21 if you need to upgrade first.

January 2025 Transfer List — Full Details

Here are all the key transfers included in this option file update, with notes on what each move means for your gameplay:

Paulinho

Atletico Mineiro to Palmeiras

A Brazil-based domestic transfer for the forward. This move bolsters Palmeiras's attack, adding pace and flair up front. A great pickup if you play Brazilian league matches.

Kevin Denkey

Cercle Brugge to FC Cincinnati (MLS)

The Togolese striker makes the move to MLS, bringing a fresh and direct attacking option to Cincinnati. Known for his strength and hold-up play, he is a strong asset in Career Mode.

Hirving Lozano

PSV to San Diego FC (MLS)

A high-profile move to MLS for the Mexican winger. His blistering pace and dribbling ability make him a top pick in any team. This transfer brings one of the most exciting players in the MLS update.

Enzo Le Fee

AS Roma to Sunderland

The French midfielder brings creativity and ball control to Sunderland, adding flair to their midfield options. A surprising but interesting move for Championship football fans.

How to Install This Option File — Step by Step

Follow these steps carefully to get this option file working in your game. The process takes about 5 minutes once you know what you are doing.

Before you start: Always back up your existing EDIT00000000 file before replacing it. This is your current save data — if anything goes wrong, you can restore it. Simply copy the file to your desktop as a backup.

1 Download and extract the option file

Download the option file from the link below. It will be a zip or rar archive. Right-click it and choose Extract here using WinRAR or 7-Zip. Inside you will find a file named EDIT00000000 — this is the file you need.

2 Find your PES 2021 save folder

Open File Explorer and navigate to your save folder. The path looks like this:

C:\Users\YourName\Documents\KONAMI\eFootball PES 2021\[your ID number]\save

The ID number is a long unique number that is different for every player. If you see multiple folders, open the one that was most recently modified.

3 Back up your existing file

Before replacing anything, copy the existing EDIT00000000 file from your save folder and paste it somewhere safe — your desktop or a backup folder. This takes 10 seconds and can save you a lot of frustration if something goes wrong.

4 Replace the EDIT file

Copy the new EDIT00000000 file from your extracted download folder. Paste it into your PES 2021 save folder. When Windows asks if you want to replace the existing file, click Yes.

5 Launch PES 2021 and verify

Start PES 2021 with Smoke Patch 21 V4.5 running. Go to Edit Mode and check a team that had a transfer — for example, check if Hirving Lozano is now at San Diego or if Paulinho is at Palmeiras. If you see the updated squad, the option file is working correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Smoke Patch 21 V4.5 to use this option file?
Yes. This option file is built specifically for SP21 V4.5. Using it with a different patch version may cause missing players, incorrect kits, or data errors. Make sure you have the correct version of Smoke Patch installed before applying this update.
Will this option file work if I already applied a previous option file?
Yes — just replace the EDIT00000000 file as normal. Each new option file completely replaces the previous one. Your game progress (Master League saves, myClub data) is stored separately and will not be affected.
The squads look wrong after installing. What do I do?
First, make sure you placed the EDIT file in the correct numbered folder — not the root save folder. Second, some transfers may require you to manually confirm them in Edit Mode the first time you load the game. Go to Edit Mode, check the relevant clubs, and apply any pending transfers manually.
Will there be a V2 update for January 2025?
Yes. This is V1 covering the first confirmed January transfers. A V2 update will be released after the winter transfer window closes on February 3rd to catch deadline day signings. Check back on RealMod for the V2 download link.
